Hero Daniel Goff was an African American soldier who fought in the War of Independence and later settled in Northern Kentucky; the remarkable bravery of the women of Kentucky's Bryan Station Settlement; Jack Jouett's heroic act and his Woodford County historic home; and Chip joins the reenactment of the Battle of Blue Licks at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, which is considered the last official battle of the Revolutionary War. Adron Doran

An interview with Adron Doran, former president of Morehead State University and Kentucky House speaker. Between March 1954 and January 1977, Doran grew Morehead's enrollment from 700 to 7,500 and brought integration to the campus. A 1991 KET production.

It's that time of year to forage. We head to Shelby County, Ky., to forage for morels, and back to Franklin County, Ky., to pick Pheasant Back Mushrooms (from the same tree as last year!). Use these mushrooms and fennel in a cheesy pasta recipe over the fire. Head out to the field to check on the new lambs and bottle feed Montana, our lamb (who thinks he's a dog).

Hand Carved

Chester Cornett made chairs for Presidents and his work is displayed in museums across the country. In this film, Chester fells a tree on the site of his family's homeplace on the top of Pine Mountain in southeastern Kentucky and transports it back to his small apartment and workshop in inner-city Cincinnati. He uses simple hand tools to chop, whittle, and carve the wood into an exquisite, eight-legged, "two-in-one" rocker. A 2011 Production.

Maggie and Lindsey visit Sirocco Ridge Farm in Henryville, Indiana, which produces a variety of cheeses and gelato flavors from goat milk raised on the farm. In the kitchen, goat cheese takes center stage on the menu as they whip up chive chevre crostini with spring onion and green garlic confit, goat cheese gnocchi with ramp pesto and goat cheese truffles.
