Meet the Red River Gorge Trail Crew, hard-working volunteers dedicated to maintaining the extensive trail system of the Gorge. GRIT magazine named Adair County couple Randy and Jennifer Luethje runners-up in its inaugural Homesteaders of the Year Awards.
Dawson Springs – Kentucky’s Original Trail Town
The town of Dawson Springs is located in the heart of Kentucky’s Pennyrile region. With access to miles of trails and waterways, the town is a rich resource for outdoor recreation.

Miguel’s Pizza
The Red River Gorge is perhaps Kentucky’s best-known outdoor destination, attracting rock climbers from around the world. Miguel’s Pizza, located in the nearby community of Slade, has made a name for itself by meeting the needs of these visiting climbers.

Red River Gorge Trail Crew
It takes a lot of work to maintain the Red River Gorge’s 60 miles of trails. Once a month, volunteers meet at designated locations around the Gorge to ensure the trails are safe and accessible.

GRIT Homesteaders of the Year
In 2012, GRIT magazine announced its inaugural Homesteaders of the Year awards, and a Kentucky couple were among the runners-up. Jennifer and Randy Luethje built their homestead in Adair County with the goal of living more sustainably.
