The Soulful Sounds of Derbytown

The concert event celebrates the significant contributions of Louisville's African American musicians and entertainers through music, dance and theater - with the release of an accompanying book. Performances include The Jerry Tolson Quartet, Marjorie Marshall, Mark "Big Poppa" Stampley, Artie Wells and the Walnut Street Blues Band, Tyrone Cotton, Tanita Gaines, Sheryl Rouse, Lamont Butler and the Pearls, Christopher "Chris Flow" Forehand, Imani Dance Company, Jerry Newby, Christina Booker, Archie Dale and the Tones of Joy, Jason Clayborn and In God's Presence. The Ken Clay production was recorded live by Media Partner Kentucky to the World at the Kentucky Center for the Arts on March 2, 2024.

Abraham Lincoln in Illinois

Lincoln's life from 1830 to1860, beginning with his arrival at the log village of New Salem, Illinois, and ends with his election to the presidency thirty years later, is explored. Themes explored include that hard work and study is the path to achievement, and Lincoln's use of the Declaration of Independence, and its phrase "all men are created equal," to confront the expansion of slavery in the 1850s. A 2019 production.

During the 1950s and '60s, Louisville lost much of its unique architectural heritage when old buildings and entire neighborhoods were torn down for high-rises, expressways, and "urban renewal." Kentucky Life explores the American Revolution through Kentucky stories. Hero Daniel Goff was an African American soldier who fought in the War of Independence and later settled in Northern Kentucky; the remarkable bravery of the women of Kentucky's Bryan Station Settlement; Jack Jouett's heroic act and his Woodford County historic home; and Chip joins the reenactment of the Battle of Blue Licks at Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park, which is considered the last official battle of the Revolutionary War.
