Statement from KET Executive Director Shae Hopkins on U.S. House rescission bill vote

For Release: 06/12/25 4:49 PM

A statement on the U.S. House rescission bill vote from KET Executive Director and CEO Shae Hopkins: We are extremely disappointed by today’s vote in the House to eliminate federal funding for public broadcasting as the loss of this funding will substantially diminish all of KET’s programs and services. We know the more than two million people who watch and use KET each week value our nearly 60 years of dedication and service to the Commonwealth. There is still time to make a difference, so we urge everyone to call their senators and make their voices heard.

KET is Kentucky’s largest classroom, providing trusted programming, lifelong learning opportunities and essential services to more than two million people each week. Learn more about Kentucky’s preeminent public media organization at KET.org, on X @KET and at facebook.com/KET.
