‘Lexington: 250 Years’ wins Silver Telly Award

KET is proud to announce that the 2025 documentary Lexington: 250 Years has been named a 2026 Silver Telly Award Winner in the General-History Television category. The awards received over 13,000 entries, with the winners representing the most innovative stories from around the world.  

The Telly Awards, established in 1979 to honor local, regional and cable television programming, celebrate the best work in the video medium from some of the most respected agencies, television stations, production companies and publishers from around the globe. Entries are judged by a body of over 250 executives from companies like Netflix, Marvel, BBC and YouTube.  

Lexington: 250 Years premiered on KET in October 2025 and features several renowned Lexingtonians and historians. The documentary takes viewers on a sprawling historical journey through Lexington, including the Civil War, Great Depression and World Wars, the establishment of Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky and notable figures in the city including Henry Clay and Mary Todd Lincoln.  Lexington: 250 Years was produced by Thomas Bickel. The team involved in the production include writing and research consultant, Teresa Day, associate producer, Emily Host, director/editors, Matt Grimm and Nick Helton, and executive producers, Nancy Southgate and Shae Hopkins.
