KET presents Undiagnosed: The Diabetes Epidemic, a documentary and panel discussion about diabetes and pre-diabetes
For Release: 02/14/20 10:46 AM
Do you know what your blood sugar levels are? Nearly half of Kentucky adults have blood sugar levels indicative of diabetes or pre-diabetes—but far too many don’t know it.
In a new documentary Undiagnosed: The Diabetes Epidemic, KET shines a light on the alarming numbers of people with undiagnosed diabetes or prediabetes and shows how Kentuckians are working to reduce those rates. There’s good news to share: With lifestyle changes and proper care and support, diabetes can be controlled and, in some case, prevented or delayed.
Undiagnosed: The Diabetes Epidemic airs Monday, Feb. 24, at 9/8 pm on KET.
Following the 30-minute documentary, Dr. Wayne Tuckson of Kentucky Health will lead a town-hall style forum with the following guests:
- Connie White, MD, deputy commissioner for clinical services with the Kentucky Department for Public Health
- Rev. Dr. Donald K. Gillett II, senior pastor at East Second Street Christian Church and the executive director of the Kentucky Council of Churches
- Fred Williams, MD, endocrinologist
- Richard Heine, co-facilitator with the Fayette County Diabetes Coalition
Undiagnosed: The Diabetes Epidemic is a KET production, produced by Laura Krueger.
