KET Announces New Educational Initiative Focusing on Autism-Adapted Support Methods

For Release: 10/23/25 12:16 PM

FOR RELEASE: October 23, 2025

KET is proud to announce Collecting Creativity: Adapting the Arts for Every Child. A collaboration with Kentucky-based nonprofit Arts for All KY, the project creates resources around the PBS KIDS program, Carl the Collector. The goal of Collecting Creativity is to raise awareness and foster a greater sense of empathy, acceptance and support for individuals with autism.

Amanda Wright, KET Director of Education Outreach, explained the new initiative. “We believe that Collecting Creativity can serve as a valuable resource for families, educators and community programs. KET has been working with Arts for All KY to develop a new parent and caregiver activity guide, a Carl the Collector artist residency pilot and an asynchronous professional development course that is currently in development.”

The parent and caregiver guide features art activities that connect directly to Carl the Collector episodes, thoughtfully adapted to support children on the autism spectrum or those who may benefit from different learning approaches. Sensory-friendly activities help make artistic expression fun and accessible for every child. Program completion is projected for November 2025.

Senior Director of Education Amy Grant looks forward to the program’s wide reach. “Through Collecting Creativity, we’re inviting all children to experience the joy of artistic expression in ways that meet their individual needs. By connecting to themes in Carl the Collector, we’re helping to build classrooms and communities where every child feels included, supported and inspired to create.”

KET is Kentucky’s largest classroom, providing trusted programming, lifelong learning opportunities and essential services to more than two million people each week. Learn more about Kentucky’s preeminent public media organization at KET.org, on X @KET and at facebook.com/KET.
