‘Kentucky Life’ meets a pair of young farmers, talks poetry with Silas House and dives into vintage radio

For Release: 04/03/25 1:21 PM

On an all-new episode of Kentucky Life, host Chip Polston dives into agriculture, poetry and old-time radio.

Since the 1970s, the average age of the American farmer has continued to rise. But there are still some young people who choose the city over agriculture. Two western Kentucky farmers share how they’re bucking the trend and blazing a trail back to the farm.

In the first of a series on the Commonwealth’s poets, Eastern Kentucky native and current Kentucky Poet Laureate Silas House joins the program for a conversation.

In Nicholasville, KCAL Old Time Radio recreates 1940s and 50s radio mysteries, dramas and comedies for the stage.

A 2025 KET production.
