The next episode of KET’s Kentucky Life features the Violins of Hope exhibit at the Frazier Museum, Alfred Russell’s experiences in Liberia, the story of Dr. Ephraim McDowell and his most famous patient, and the 100-year history of the infamous USS Sachem that now sits in ruins in a Boone County creek. First, Kentucky Life visits a special exhibit at the Frazier Museum in Louisville: Violins of Hope, a collection of restored instruments played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust.

Then, Kentucky Life looks back at Alfred Russell’s experience in Liberia. Born into slavery in 1817 in Lexington, Russell would go on to become president of Liberia from 1883 to 1884.

Next, Kentucky Life revisits the story of Dr. Ephraim McDowell and his most famous patient, Mrs. Jane Todd Crawford, who traveled alone on horseback to have him remove an abdominal tumor.

Lastly, Kentucky Life traces the 100-year history of the infamous USS Sachem that served in both world wars but now sits abandoned in ruins in a Boone County creek.
