‘Inside Louisville’ visits Portland neighborhood, spotlights Louisville Visual Art

For Release: 01/08/25 11:18 AM

Portland is the oldest neighborhood in Louisville and one of the earliest known settlements in Kentucky. The 3,000 acres of land that extend into the Ohio River, just northwest of downtown, was once an independent town bustling with river traffic at its busy port. Today, it is one of Louisville’s poorest neighborhoods; however, with new families and investments moving into the area, its rich history and significant architecture are experiencing a revitalization.

In a new episode of Inside Louisville, host Kelsey Starks talks with Portland residents Kacie Chase and Ed White. She then takes a trip to neighborhood staple Louisville Visual Art to meet its president, Angela Hagan, and artist Juliet Taylor.
