Explore Kentucky’s remaining historic covered bridges
For Release: 03/16/21 12:30 PM
Editor’s note: In light of the recent fire at the 150-year-old Beech Fork Bridge (also referred to as the Mt Zion Covered Bridge) near Mooresville in Washington County, which destroyed one of the Commonwealth’s few remaining covered bridges, KET is re-airing this 2012 program that chronicles the history and decline of these treasured landmarks.
Explore Kentucky’s remaining covered bridges in this KET production from 2012. Former Kentucky Life host Dave Shuffett talks with author Walter Laughlin about his lifelong passion for researching and documenting the state’s covered bridges. Visit the Fleming County Covered Bridge Museum, examine the truss designs of the remaining bridges and take a photo tour of each of these beautiful relics from another era.
The program Covered Bridges of Kentucky airs on Saturday, March 20, at 8/7 pm on KET and also on Wednesday, March 17, at 8/7 pm on KETKY.
KET is Kentucky’s largest classroom, where learning comes to life for more than one million people each week via television, online and mobile. Learn more about Kentucky’s preeminent public media organization at KET.org, on Twitter @KET and at facebook.com/KET.
