‘Aging & Healthcare: A KET Special Report’ examines issues and obstacles to healthcare access for seniors
For Release: 12/09/24 10:49 AM
The 2024 Senior Report from the United Health Foundation America’s Health Rankings placed Kentucky near the bottom – 47th out of the 50 states – for senior health and well-being. Additionally, Kentucky ranked 42nd for the percentage of seniors who forgo care because of the cost.
On Aging & Healthcare: A KET Special Report, host Renee Shaw explores the barriers to healthcare and the causes and issues contributing to the Commonwealth’s poor health standing for senior citizens. Beyond access to quality healthcare and preventative services, there are additional contributing factors such as access to screenings, affordability of medications, shortages of geriatric healthcare providers, and lack of transportation. The program also will provide information about the resources and services available to support Kentucky’s senior citizens.
