Exclusive preview of the new documentary College Behind Bars

Monday June 10, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm EDT

college behind bars preview

Directed and produced by Peabody-Award winning filmmaker Lynn Novick, produced by Sarah Botstein, and executive produced by Ken Burns, College Behind Bars reveals the transformative power of higher education through the experiences of incarcerated men and women earning degrees in the Bard Prison Initiative (BPI), one of the country’s most rigorous prison education programs.

This preview event, moderated by KET’s Renee Shaw, will feature segments from the documentary followed by discussions about the role of education and preparing inmates for a life outside of prison. We are pleased to have with us the film’s producers, along with panelists that include Secretary John Tilley, Kentucky Justice Cabinet; Secretary Derrick Ramsey, Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet; and others for this important community conversation.

The event is free, but seating is limited. Please RSVP by June 6. Email jschmidt@ket.org or call (502) 589-3538 to register.
