Bill Aids Investigations of Human Trafficking

Renee Shaw discusses the issue of human trafficking with Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear and Deputy Attorney General J. Michael Brown, who heads the criminal branch.

House Bill 229, sponsored by Rep. Sannie Overly (D-Paris), would give the attorney general’s office concurrent jurisdiction in investigations and prosecutions of human trafficking cases. The measure passed the House last month without opposition and is awaiting a hearing in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
