KET to host free screening of Ken Burns’ ‘The American Revolution’ in Pikeville

For Release: 04/30/26 9:59 AM

To celebrate America turning 250, KET, in partnership with the Kentucky Historical Society and the America250KY Commission, will host a free screening of Ken Burns’ The American Revolution at the Appalachian Center for the Arts in Pikeville on Tuesday, May 12.

Discover how America’s founding turned the world upside-down with a highlight screening of The American Revolution, a six-part, twelve-hour documentary from Ken Burns. Thirteen British colonies on the Atlantic Coast rose in rebellion, won their independence, and established a new form of government that radically reshaped the continent and inspired democratic movements around the globe.

Doors open at 6 pm. The event will begin at 6:30 pm and feature a one-hour highlight screening of the documentary, followed by a panel discussion.

Panelists include local historians, Dr. Tom Matijasic and Dr. Brittany Goetting.

This event is free but registration is encouraged at KET.org.

Full event information is available at KET.org. For information on free ticketing, attendees should contact The Appalachian Center for the Arts at (606) 262-4004 or info@theapparts.org.
