This KET-produced current-events program is aimed at upper-elementary and middle school students. The series features a fast-paced roundup of headlines for the week and presents a series of questions to test students’ understanding.
About the Host
Kelsey Starks is a broadcast journalist with more than 20 years of experience as a reporter, anchor and producer in various markets across the country. A native of Owensboro, Kelsey is host of KET’s educational current events show, News Quiz as well as other programming. Prior to her work at KET, Kelsey spent nine years as the morning anchor for Good Morning Kentuckiana on WHAS in Louisville.
Kelsey earned a journalism degree from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism. She spent several years in New York City as a producer for cable networks CourtTV and MSNBC before moving to a reporter position. Her on-camera career took her to Chicago, Washington D.C. and Charleston, S.C. before landing in Louisville in 2008. During her time at WHAS, she was voted “Best Kentucky TV Personality” by Kentucky Living Magazine and chosen as “Most Admired Woman” in Media by Today’s Woman magazine. Her favorite title, by far, is ‘Mommy’ to her three children, ages 13, 10 and 6.
