Donald McKayle: Heartbeats of a Dancemaker

When choreographer/dancer Donald McKayle launched his career in 1948, segregation was legal and racism common. Dancers and other performing artists of color were often refused work because of their race. Despite this obstacle, McKayle was able to transcend racial and cultural boundaries to create a body of work that reflects faith in the human spirit and belief in the redeeming quality of love. Narrated by Della Reese.
