This instructional series for high school, college, and adult students learning English as a second language uses the story of Rebecca, an aspiring singer on a journey across America, to teach meaningful, natural language that students can put to work immediately in their own lives. The programs use subtly simplified dialogue, repetition of key lines, and paraphrasing to reinforce points; highlight visual clues to meaning, such as written signs, notes, and documents; and illustrate the importance of facial expressions, gestures, and body language in adding meaning to the spoken word.
