Renee Shaw to be inducted to the Silver Circle for her lasting contributions to the television industry

The Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced that KET’s Renee Shaw will be inducted to the Silver Circle, one of the academy’s highest honors that recognizes those who’ve made lasting contributions to the television industry.

As KET’s director of public affairs, Shaw likewise serves as host for several KET productions, including Kentucky Tonight, Kentucky Edition, Connections, KET Forums as well as the network’s annual election coverage.

“We couldn’t be happier to see Renee honored for her unwavering dedication to serving Kentuckians throughout the Commonwealth,” said Shae Hopkins, KET’s executive director and CEO. “With an unparalleled combination of integrity, professionalism and passion, Renee is, put simply, a Kentucky treasure. We’re grateful that the academy is bestowing this prestigious recognition.”

Since joining KET in 1997, Shaw has earned numerous awards, including two regional Emmy awards from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She was recognized by the Kentucky Associated Press for her coverage of the state legislature; inducted into the Kentucky Civil Rights Hall of Fame; received the state media award from the Kentucky Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution; named a Charles W. Anderson Laureate by the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet; and earned the Anthony Lewis Media Award from the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy for her work on criminal justice reform.

Shaw is slated to be inducted to the Silver Circle at NATAS’ Emmy Gala in Lawrenceburg, Ind., on July 29, 2023.
