For Release: 10/08/18 2:11 PM
Our Library, a new independent documentary by Louisville filmmaker Morgan C. Atkinson, explores the role of the public library and what it means to a community. The documentary airs Monday, Oct. 22 at 10/9 pm on KET.
While focusing on the work of the Louisville Free Public Library – Kentucky’s largest public library system – the film explores the ways in which public libraries are evolving their scope and services in order to remain relevant and meet their communities’ information needs.
“I wanted to show a public institution that really serves the community well and is truly irreplaceable – and yet is too often underappreciated,” said Atkinson.
The film follows Louisville librarians as they offer a range of services, from summer reading initiatives to tackling the digital divide. Actor/musician Will Oldham serves as the film’s host and guide.
Our Library is an independent production, produced and directed by Morgan C. Atkinson.
