Former Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear on Connections with Renee Shaw this week
For Release: 09/27/17 10:36 AM
The next episode of KET’s Connections with Renee Shaw sits down with former Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear to discuss his new book, People Over Politics. The program airs Friday, Sept. 29 at 5/4 pm on KET2 and Sunday, Oct. 1 at 1:30/12:30 pm on KET.
Published in May, Beshear’s People Over Politics recounts the tests and triumphs of his eight-year administration as Kentucky Governor (2007-2015).
During his interview with KET host Renee Shaw, Beshear talks about his signature accomplishments as governor, including embracing the Affordable Care Act and expanding Medicaid in Kentucky; his philosophical evolution on same-sex marriage and his rationale in appealing a federal judge ruling striking down Kentucky’s ban on same-sex marriage; his unsuccessful struggle with advancing expanded gambling; the persistent plight of public employee pensions; and misgivings in his messaging about the federal EPA regulations regarding coal.
Connections with Renee Shaw is a KET production, produced by Renee Shaw.
