With Finding Your Roots now entering its 10th season\, Gates has become an icon of public television and continues to showcase and highlight the value of history to understand our lives and times today. Don’t miss your chance to see this PBS star in person here in Kentucky!A once-in-a-lifetime experience\, we have a small number of VIP tickets available for KET donors. These VIP tickets not only include 1 ticket to attend the Finding Your Roots lecture by Henry Louis Gates at Centre College’s Norton Center for the Performing Arts. These tickets also include an exclusive after-lecture reception held by Centre College\, where Henry Louis Gates Jr. will be present for time to meet people and talk after the event. There will be a bar\, live entertainment\, and hors d’oeuvres. These tickets are not available to the general public\, but we have a small\, limited number available to KET viewers. Please check back for future KET screening events! \n\n\n\nThis new episode of Secrets of the Dead\, which was co-produced by KET\, investigates an incident from Kentucky history known as the “Simpsonville Massacre\,” when 22 Civil War-era soldiers from the 5th US Colored Cavalry on a cattle drive to a Louisville slaughterhouse were ambushed and slain by outlaws. \n\n\n\nCamp Nelson’s Chief of Education\, Steve Phan\, will participate in a Q&A following the screening. \n\n\n\n\nCamp Nelson | 6614 Danville Rd\, Nicholasville\, KY 40356\n\n\n\nMonday\, October 28\, 2024\n\n\n\nDoors open at 6:00 pm\, the screening starts at 6:30 pm.\n\n\n\n\nThe event is free but seating is limited and reservations are required using the form below. \n\n\n\nFunding for Secrets of the Dead: The Civil War’s Lost Massacre is made possible in part by the KET Millenium Fund.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReservations\n\n\n\nReservations for this event have now closed.
