SUMMARY:Tommy Emmanuel at Cincinnati's Taft Theater
DESCRIPTION:“Music is the medicine of the soul\,” wrote Plato. “It gives a soul to the universe\, wings to the mind\, joy to sadness\, and life to everything.” Remarkably\, Plato recognized this truth somehow more than 2000 years before Tommy Emmanuel was even born\, but it could have been written about him. The real-time exuberance Tommy brings to every note of every song he plays is palpable and infectious. His fans are in love with his unbound talent as a guitarist of multitudes\, his ability to play three parts at once\, always with pure heart and real soul. He is a true virtuoso. But he seems as delighted always with the magic of the music as the audience\, if not more\, and his joy illuminates everything. \n\n\n\nIn 2018\, Tommy made the great album\, Accomplice One\, a series of duets with musicians great and varied\, and all at his level. An inspired idea\, it seemed to answer the question: What could Tommy possibly record that would match the energy and greatness he’s already achieved? How about bringing in other virtuoso musicians and artists to duet with him? It’s a concept that worked\, as the range of artists reflected Tommy’s expansive love of all kinds of music\, including Rodney Crowell\, Mark Knopfler\, Amanda Shires\, Jason Isbell\, Jerry Douglas\, Jake Shimabukuro and more. Each of his accomplices seemed as inspired by his energy and passion as much as Tommy was by theirs\, and he played with effortless grace. \n\n\n\nNow comes the long-awaited sequel\, Accomplice Two\, out in spring of 2023. It shares the same exuberance\, diversity\, and sense of adventure as the first album\, with a great range of artists. This album features rock legends Michael McDonald\, Jorma Kaukonen\, and Little Feat; bluegrass superstars such as Billy Strings\, The Del McCoury Band\, Sam Bush\, Jerry Douglas\, Sierra Hull\, and David Grisman; country icons such as Nitty Gritty Dirt Band\, Jamey Johnson\, and Raul Malo; and guitar heavyweights like Yasmin Williams\, Larry Campbell\, and Richard Smith. The first single “White Freight Liner Blues” is out now and features the Grammy-nominated claw hammer guitarist\, Molly Tuttle. \n\n\n\nTommy also has a new television special called Accomplice LIVE! airing on KET in March of 2023. This special features some of Tommy’s best-known songs and duets with his accomplices such as Emmylou Harris\, Rodney Crowell\, Sierra Hull\, Yasmin Williams\, and many others. \n\n\n\nExperience Tommy Emmanuel’s live performance at the Taft Theater with KET supporters like you! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\nThe window for purchasing tickets has been closed.

SUMMARY:Joe Bonamassa
DESCRIPTION:Joe Bonamassa is the guitarist’s guitarist. A master of the blues\, Bonamassa easily ranks alongside the more well known Clapton or Jeff Beck. Such was his prodigious talent that he supported B.B. King at the tender of age of twelve in 1989\, and was christened by King as “one of a kind.” Since then\, he’s played with anyone who is anyone and released a formidable catalog of studio albums. \n\n\n\nBonamassa is one of those performers who seems to live on the road this year is no different. An opportunity to witness a master at the very top of his game is one not to be missed! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\nTicket sales for this event are now closed.

DESCRIPTION:Rick Steves’ Europe: A Symphonic Journey in Louisville\nRick Steves\, America’s leading authority on European travel\, teams up with the Louisville Orchestra for a musical journey that begins in the United States and travels to seven European countries. Each selection honors a particular nationality\, while the finale\, Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” (Europe’s official anthem) pays homage to the continent’s motto of “United in Diversity.” The music is accompanied by a montage of evocative video images from each country. Bob Bernhardt conducts and Rick Steves narrates. \n\n\n\nTickets\nTicketing opportunities for this show have ended\, if you have any questions please contact us at 800-866-0366.

SUMMARY:Secrets of the Dead: The Herculaneum Scrolls
DESCRIPTION:Join us!\nMaking headlines worldwide\, the University of Kentucky’s Dr. Brent Seales and his team of computer scientists set out on a mission to read the 2\,000-year-old carbonized scrolls found in the remains of a villa in Herculaneum. Mt. Vesuvius’s eruption in 79 AD transformed the papyri\, fusing the layers of the scrolls and making them impossible to read. But can particle physics and AI finally reveal what the scrolls say? \nKET will be hosting a screening of Secrets of the Dead: The Herculaneum Scrolls at The Kentucky Historical Society\, Brown-Forman Room. Dr. Seales will lead a discussion after the screening. \nDue to historic flooding in Frankfort\, the event originally planned for April 10 has been rescheduled for Wednesday\, May 14th\, 6:30 – 8 pm EDT. \nThis event is free\, but registration is required. \nExplore more great history programming at KET.org/History. \n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\n\n\nEmail(Required) \n\n \n \n\nFirst Name(Required) \n\n\nLast Name(Required) \n\n\nNumber of Seats(Required) \n1234
