SUMMARY:A free virtual screening of POV: Portraits and Dreams
DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to a special screening of a new documentary from POV called “Portraits and Dreams”. \nThirty-five years ago\, photographer Wendy Ewald published the book\, Portraits and Dreams: Photographs and Stories by Children of the Appalachians\, a collaboration between her and her Letcher County students. She asked them to photograph the things closest to them\, including their hopes and dreams. “It opened up a whole new way of making pictures for them\,” she said. \nIn “Portraits and Dreams\,” a new film from Appalshop\, Ewald returns to Eastern Kentucky to visit her former students. \nYou’re invited to a virtual film screening on Thursday\, September 17 at 7pm (6pm CT). DESCRIPTION:Join us for KET’s 4th annual Be My Neighbor Day – all weekend long!\nKET is re-imagining Be My Neighbor Day to ensure the health and safety of all. In celebration of families\, neighborhoods\, and the values of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood\, this FREE family event champions the role of community helpers and fosters conversation about what it means to be a caring neighbor. \nKET and its partners\, PNC and Fred Rogers Productions\, are pleased to present the “Daniel Tiger Drive-Through Parade” on Sunday\, September 27\, 2020 at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park in Louisville from 12 – 4 p.m. \nCommunity helper and first responder vehicles—including police squad cars\, a garbage truck\, a neighborhood trolley\, and more—will line the parade route for children and families to view. And\, of course\, Daniel Tiger will be there to wave to families as they drive through. Upon entry\, each child will be given a “welcome bag” filled with activities suitable to do in the car or at home. \nKET asks all attendees to remain in their vehicle throughout the event and masks will be required. \nAnd to get the conversation started\, be sure to tune-in to the Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood mini-marathon on KET from 8 – 10 a.m. on Saturday\, September 26.
