Jackie Chan hosts look at Olympic city

For Release: 2008-07-21 15:23:00

Many China-watchers have said that the 2008 Summer Olympic games are a “coming out” party for the country. Indeed, the Chinese government has made a $48 billion commitment to the Olympics. A Touch of Beijing, airing Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 8/7 p.m. CT on KET2, chronicles Beijing’s emergence as one of the most dynamic cities in the world.

Hosted by action-movie icon Jackie Chan, the program provides an insider’s look at the city, including visits to the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City and the Great Wall, as well as the new five-star hotels and Olympic venues that now blanket the city.

A Touch of Beijing leads viewers into every part of a city that has seen war, drought and famine. And yet today, Beijing has joined the short list of world-class cities and is quickly becoming a force in just about every industry that will be important in the 21st century.

A Touch of Beijing is produced by Ganson Ventures LLC. More information about KET programming and education services, as well as how to support KET, can be found at www.ket.org.
