Troutman

Dr. Adewale Troutman, director of Louisville Metro Public Health and Wellness and founder of the Center for Health Equity, is the next guest on Connections with Renee Shaw, airing Saturday, Aug. 9 at 3/2 p.m. CT on KET1 and Sunday, Aug. 17 at 11:30/10:30 a.m. CT on KET2.

Troutman discusses his background and his professional accomplishments, which include the passage of a smoke-free ordinance for restaurants and workplaces throughout Louisville; the establishment of the Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement, a community-wide effort to encourage citizens to engage in more physical activity and adopt healthier lifestyles; the implementation of the Take Charge Challenge, a worksite wellness program; and the establishment of an office of Public Health and Emergency Preparedness at the Louisville Metro Health Department.

Troutman was recently featured in the PBS series Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick? and also on a special Connections that accompanied the national program. He talks about that experience and the topics of those programs, including the disparity in healthcare as it relates to social, economic and racial status.

Connections with Renee Shaw is a KET production, produced by Shaw and Carolyn Gwinn. More information about Connections, including streaming video, is available at www.ket.org/connections.
