KET has been nominated for six regional Emmy Awards from the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.Producer Tom Bickel received an Emmy nomination in the Historical Documentary category for Kentucky WWII Veterans: In Their Own Words. Marsha Hellard, Charlee Heaton, Bickel, Mary Marshall Hester and Craig Cornwell also received nominations in this category for Where the River Bends: A History of Northern Kentucky.
Frank Simkonis is nominated for two Emmys –– one in Lighting and one in Photography –– for his work on Where the River Bends.
Brandon Wickey received a nomination in the Health/Science/Environment category for a compilation of Kentucky Life segments, highlighting the state’s wide range of natural features.
Finally, producers Timothy Bischoff, Rob Elliott and Erin Lowry have been nominated for the “Kentucky Life Signpost Spot,” a short promotional piece that features Kentucky Life host Dave Shuffett and his canine sidekick Charlie.
“An Emmy nomination is one of the most exclusive recognitions in the television industry,” said KET Executive Director Malcolm Wall. “It’s a tribute to both the artistry of the KET staff and the compelling nature of their subjects that KET has been honored in this way.”
