Digital television is here!
By law, TV broadcasters must switch from the old analog method of transmitting TV signals by February 17, 2009 and broadcast only digital signals. KET is now transmitting both analog and digital signals. KET is here to help you with the transition—and to bring you the best that digital television has to offer.
What does this change mean for you?
You might not need to do anything at all. If you have a digital TV with a digital tuner or if you subscribe to cable, satellite, or another pay service, your service will continue uninterrupted. (Don’t forget about old analog TV sets that aren’t hooked up to cable or satellite. If you have those, keep reading.)
Does your TV have an antenna?
If your TV uses an antenna to receive TV signals, then you’ll need to take action in order to continue to receive TV signals after February 17, 2009. You have several options:

- Purchase a digital TV converter box (available from major retailers). The cost of a digital converter box is between $40 and $60. Once connected, your TV will still receive free, over-the-air programs. The federal government will issue up to two FREE converter box coupons (valued at $40 each) to households to help defray the cost of converter boxes. Request your coupons »
- Purchase a new television set with a built-in digital tuner.
- Subscribe to a cable, satellite, or other pay television service provider. (Make sure the company carries KET!)
With digital television, you’ll receive better pictures and sound and more local TV channels, including KET’s digital broadcast services: KET1, KET2, KET KY, KET HD, and KET ED. [More about KET’s services »]
